Step-By-Step Instructions
Step #1
Measure 1/2" up from the bottom of the
Vee hull. Make a mark dead center above the Vee as shown.
Step #2
Using a 3/8" center drill bit, drill on
the mark from step #1.
Step #3
Clean the inside of the contact area
with Acetone.
Step #4
Before permanently installing the Iso-Pad,
test fit making sure the shaft log extends the thickness of
the transom to end up flush with the outside of the hull. The
shaft tube can easily be pushed in and out to allow for this
adjustment.
Step #5 Apply
the silicone adhesive liberally running a bead around the
perimeter and bottom contact area of the Iso-Pad as shown.
Step #6
Also run a bead of silicone on the rear
edge which contacts the inside transom, this will form a
water-tight seal.
Step #7
Firmly press the Iso-Pad evenly into the
bottom of the hull flush with the inside of the transom until
the excess silicone adhesive is squeezed out along the edges.
It is extremely important to keep the shaft tube centered
during this step.
Step #8
Place two wood blocks on top of the Iso-Pad
as shown.
Step #9
Place another wood block on top of the
previously placed wood blocks. Carefully set a heavy object on
top of this block. Allow this to set over night. Vibration
dampening shaft tube mounting pad is designed for surface
drive applications where the shaft tube doubles as a engine
nose mount. Easy to install, and requires no fiberglass or
resins
Step #10
After the Iso-Pad adhesion has
thoroughly cured, a bead of silicone can be applied against
the transom as shown.
NOTICE:
1. Clean the Iso-Pad and inside contact area with a clean
acetone wet rag prior to installation.
2. When bending the shaft tube make a gradual bend not
exceeding a 30 degree angle. Make sure to test fit the Iso-Pad
with shaft tube installed prior to permanent assembly. There
should be very little downward pressure applied to the front of
the shaft tube to cause the front of the iso-pad to make contact
with the bottom of the hull. If a considerable amount of downward
force is required to do so, use a 3/8 inch round file and slightly
raise the transum hole (oblong) until the iso-pad with shaft tube
fits properly in place.
3. Use GE Silicon II clear for installation. Allow a minimum of
6-8 hours to set prior to installing the engine.
