We spent many months in development on this project to bring to the market a good looking, fast, strong, and lightweight fully competiton hull. The SILEX is all the above recording consistant race heat speeds in the high 50's and low 60's. Hull production starts with pre-measured high grade polyester resin for consistant weight. Each hull is 100% hand-laid with fiberglass (cloth), this give the bottom extra strength and limits hull flex. The wood stringers are CNC cut and incorporate a structure that aids in the support of the deck. Actual deck strength has been engineered by design, utilizing a strong round design. The deck and hull are assembled like no other model boat in the industry. We designed a method know to us as pressure bonding where the deck and hull are adhered by a composite material and chemical bond under extreme pressure. This method provides a sharp edge deck to hull bond without the need for a deck-over or shoe box type application. This eliminates any unnecessary area for wind or water to effect the hull at high speeds.
The engine / cockpit features a 1/2 hatch design, popular with the tru competitor, makig engine starting and access very easy and quick.
The stringers are 1/4" Birch plywood and interlock into the rear transom board for additional strength. The spacing is set at a standard 5" inside to inside to achomidate the majority of engine mounts. The complete hulls finished weight is: 5 pounds. We offer 3 gelCoat colors: White, Yellow or Red. We will build a two tone color boat for and small upcharge.
SPECIAL OPTION: The SILEX can be purchased with our special option fiberglass radio box that fits and covers the rear of the hull aft the 1/2 racing hatch cover. The radio box is incorporated in a fiberglass plate that secures between the two molded in rails bellow the deck. The R-box features molded rails that secure a pre-cut (or blank) .125 ABS servo tray that enables a 1/4 servo to stand up right, so mounting and adjusting the radio system is a breeze, no more side mounted servos that are such a pain to mount and adjust. The complete fiberglass tray and box can be removed as a whole in seconds if necessary for hardware of shaft access, or another can be in place and reconnected in a couple minutes if a radio switch is necessary.
